I’m in the process of building a teepee to sleep in this summer, and I love the desert. So naturally, I ❤ Steven Harrington. He’s a cali illustrator/mixed-mediaist/screen-printer/optimist–extraordinaire. Plus, he started National Forest Design.

I loved this game. circa ’88…

The 1973 issue #165 of Graphis was a hard bound book of informational diagrams. You know, like graphs and charts…“The purpose of this book is to show the designer how abstract facts or functions which cannot be simply depicted like natural objects may be given visual expression by suitable graphic transformation. It also reviews the means of visualizing physical and technical processes which are not perceptible to the eye. The optimum synthesis of aesthetics and information value remains the essential objective in every type of diagrammatic presentation…”

Graphis Diagrams is one of the most coveted Graphic Designer books out there, and is virtually nonexistent for sale…anywhere.

Marshall McLuhan was a media theorist who wrote about the effects of technology on culture and our relations within that culture. He was known for predicting how our culture would develop…he predicted the World Wide Web almost thirty years before it was invented. He is best known for the book ‘The Medium is the Massage’ created by himself and graphic designer Quentin Fiore. The book was published in 1967 and deals with McLuhan’s saying ‘medium is the message’. Because the typesetter made a mistake, it came back from the printer with the word ‘massage’. McLuhan liked that so much, the typo went in mass printing.
