Bus Shelter Posters: Mission
I’m very excited to finally be able to show my recent illustrations for an advertising Campaign for a new parking program for the city of San Francisco. We have been working on this project for over a year now at I Shot Him. We have created communications strategies and plans as well as designed pretty much everything you see for the program. That includes anything from the SFpark meters to animations explaining the project.
The advertising campaign was finally a way to have some fun with this project. In case you haven’t already guessed, working on parking can be a big ass bore. But that is what excites me the most about the ads. I feel like we were able to come up with something refreshing that overcame parking. For us, the exciting part about parking is the place you are going to while trying to park. You only care about parking in the Mission because you want to go have some good mexican food (or party, or whatever). With that concept in mind, I created illustrations celebrating different neighborhoods in SF. I stylized a map pinpoint and put it in an open parking spot letting people know that you can now find parking online.
Bus Shelter Poster: The Marina
Bus Side: Mission
Bus Side: SOMA
Smaller Bus Sides: Civic Center
This format is for the normal sized ads you see on busses. I also did one for the wharf, but it’s much more compelling on the side of the bus above.
Bus Wrap: Marina and Fisherman’s Wharf
The bus wrap is difficult show as the art work is so long that it gets really tiny in context of a website. Here are some quick photos I was able to snag of the bus while it was parked outside city hall for the launch event of SFpark. I’m planning on going out to a bus yard in the evening to shoot the bus there. I’m not sure when that day will come though.
I’d love to hear what you think! I was really excited to have the opportunity to make such gigantic work. I had very little time to complete the texturing and stuff on the bus ads. I spent 30 hours on a weekend slaving away at texture in time to meet deadline. With more time I think the attention to detail would have been a lot different. I can still see some things on the bus wrap that bug me, but at some point you just have to let go right?
