Summers in San Francisco can be tough. Somehow it can seem like the gloomiest time of the year. It doesn’t even feel like summer a lot of the time and the only way for it to feel like summer is to leave the city. I miss the hot days and nights of summers in New Hampshire and going to swimming holes to cool off and lounge away the day. Luckily that tradition still exists in California. . .just not in San Francisco. My summer project focuses on swimming holes and while I am still figuring out how to approach them; from the first go around it seems to be cultural observation. I am not trying to make a point or rigid document so much as capture the feeling of the people and the place. I have only made it to one so far but plan on going to at least 4 more. . .so if you know of any good ones. . . please let me know!!
