Thomas Roma is the Director of Photography at Columbia University’s School of Art. He is a two-time Guggenheim Fellow and Emmet Gowin wrote the following forward to his book House Calls with William Carlos Williams, “With poignancy of heart and visual precision, this splendid book reminds us that the beauty we need in our lives is closer than we may have thought.”
I find his work, while traditional in methodology, a fresh reminder that photographic excellence is not reliant on drama. It’s the lack of drama, subtlety that brings integrity to his work. You can find more examples of that here.
