Michael Jeter || Creator

Michael Jeter is a designer and illustrator living in San Francisco. He currently serves as art director for the design firm I Shot Him. He created The Black Harbor out of his continuing need to celebrate the many overly talented friends he has the privilege of drinking and working with. Carl Bender is a designer living and working in the great city of San Francisco as an art director at the design firm I Shot Him. When not directing art, he keeps busy putting his time and love into the many other side projects he’s a part of. Carl enjoys bringing people together for the common good and as co-creator of The Black Harbor he’s loved being able to experience the creative process of others.

Gretchen Natvig || Designer

Gretchen is a designer and illustrator perched upon the top of San Francisco’s Potrero Hill. She’s a tall drink of water with major skills in the kitchen. She describes her life as a subtle bustle, and takes her beer very seriously. Her illustrations and design have a great ability to make you smile. She has a great ability to make you smile… mostly because she laughs a lot.

Justin Fantl || Photographer

When asked about his work Justin tells us, “Photography for me is about my relation to the world, my relation to other people in the world, and my relation to myself.  I am impelled to express the things I see and I don’t always know why but know that I must express them.  It is all about color and line and design but more importantly it is about the feeling and the act of creating.”

Jonathan Snyder || Photographer

Jonathan Snyder is a photographer who is based in San Francisco, but is known to drop everything except his camera and skip town. He would say his work is strategic, and there are no accidents, but really he’s a master at creating and capturing the strategic accident. When he’s not bullying mundane product shots into edifying portrayals, he can be found doing the usual — bowling, driving around, the occasional acid flashback.

McNair Evans || Photographer

Spontaneity gives meaning to McNair’s life as he is thrilled by unfiltered creativity. His photographic intentions lie in communicating an authentic experience of real life moments. He thinks before he speaks, and it is always worth a moment to share a beer with him while he shares one of his many stories.

Mark King || Photographer

Mark King was kicked out of America. We miss him, but he seems to be killing it out there taking photos of things most of us have never seen. He is now living back in Barbados where he is shooting what seems to be a whole different world.

Dan Maxwell || Photographer

Dan will tell it to you straight to your face. He doesn’t pussyfoot around things. That’s one of the reasons we all enjoy him so much. That and his insatiable taste for being on top of shit. Don’t turn your head away from him too long, because you’ll miss out on where he’s going.

Matt Sartain || Photographer

Matt is a photographer who’s intentions are to make the most insanely epic and imaginative images he possibly can. He composes photographs that present strange but accessible narratives, fantasies, and allegories. Each image presents a convincing fictional world where nostalgia, the hyper-real, and the surreal converge.  He’s a really nice guy too.

ADAM PETERSON || POLYFUNCTIONALIST

Adam has more taste in his pinky than most have in their thumb. I’m not sure what that means other than the pinky is smaller than the thumb and so that makes him better than people with fat thumbs. He is instrumental in the artistic success of all those around him, and has been an integral part of helping create a lot of the content you love so much on this site.

Dakota Keck || Designer

Dakota is the quiet type that lets the world swirl in commotion around her while taking careful notes in her head about what is what. If you listen carefully, when she speaks, it is most likely gold. She is the type of person that is always creating something, especially memories. Dakota currently lives in San Francisco and is a designer for Dwell magazine.
